Story Line : Surly, a curmudgeon, independent squirrel is banished from his park and forced to survive in the city. Lucky for him, he stumbles on the one thing that may be able to save his life, and the rest of park community, as they gear up for winter - Maury's Nut Store.
The Nut Job is the pun-heavy animated feature from The Weinstein Company and Red Rover / ToonBox Entertainment that stars Will Arnett (Arrested Development) as Surly, a shifty squirrel who inadvertently ruins the winter food supply for all the animals in his parkland home, and schemes to steal it back from a local nut store. Of course, the store is heavily guarded and “The Nut Jub” doesn’t go as smoothly as planned.
Featuring stars like Gabriel Iglesias (Magic Mike), Katherine Heigl (Grey’s Anatomy), Brendan Fraser (The Mummy), Stephen Lang (Avatar), Maya Rudolph (Up All Night) and Liam Neeson (Taken) all voicing cartoon animals and/or humanoids, the movie certainly has enough star power behind it to prevent the average onlooker from noticing that this is NOT a product of one of the top-tier animation houses like Pixar or Dreamworks.
