ANIMATION AVANTGARDE is the international competition programme during VIS – Vienna Independent Shorts Filmfestival
(www.viennashorts.com).
Our international selection concentrates on innovative films, and crosses the borders between animation & avantgardefilm.
We show innovative animation films side by side with experimental or digital media works, which dont use single frame techniques.
We also are very open to a variety of styles, techniques, basic approaches: our selection includes abstract & representational, narrative & non-narrative, serious & funny, political & playful; it includes found footage & cartoons, music video & abstract art, drawn animation & computer 2D graphics, puppet animation and 3D-computer works, and: all possible combinations.
Key issue: We want to see films, which explore new possibilities, no matter in which genre or style.
